British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program

On June 23, 2020, British Columbia’s Provincial Nominee Program [BC PNP] invited 87 immigration candidates from the categories of the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration. As this was a BC PNP Tech Pilot, those invited had a job offer in any of the 29 tech occupations in demand in the province.

With this latest draw, BC PNP has held a total of 6 draws in June 2020 so far, inviting 729 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

The BC NP has recently announced the extension of the Tech Pilot till June 2021.

All those that have received an Invitation to Apply [ITA] will have a maximum of 30 calendar days for submitting their complete application – through the BC PNP Online system – for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

If, for any reason, a candidate has received an ITA but is unable to apply within the deadline, along with their registration being removed from the selection pool, their registration as well as the invitation will be cancelled. Their profile, however, will remain.

A minimum provincial score requirement in the low 80s continues with the trend seen in the BC PNP’s Tech Pilot draws since the beginning of May 2020.

The BC PNP provides a fast-tracked Canada immigration pathway for international students and in-demand tech workers.

For being considered for an invitation by the BC PNP through the Skills Immigration category, a candidate will have to register themselves with the Skills Immigration Registration System [SIRS] of British Columbia.

To be eligible for Canada immigration through the BC PNP’s EEBC category, a candidate will have to be registered with the federal Express Entry system as well as the SIRS.

Overview of June 23, 2020, BC PNP draw – Tech Pilot draw – Total 87 invitations sent:

Category Minimum Expression of Interest [EOI] Score
EEBC – Skilled Worker 80
EEBC – International Graduate 80
SI – Skilled Worker 80
SI – International Graduate 80

Express Entry candidate that secure a provincial nomination will be allotted 600 additional points towards their overall Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score, thereby effectively guaranteeing that they would be issued an Invitation to Apply [ITA] in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

Nomination through Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program [PNP], therefore, continues to be the quick route to Canada PR.
