The federal government of Canada has held another round of invitations – the first to be held this month – under the Express Entry system managed through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC].

On July 7, 2021, IRCC invited another 627 candidates to apply for their Canadian permanent residence through the Express Entry system that includes the 3 main immigration programs of Canada.

An online application management system, IRCC Express Entry system manages the pool of Canada immigration candidates that might be eligible for – the Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP], the Federal Skilled Trades Program [FSTP], and the Canadian Experience Class [CEC].

The Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada, on the other hand, has various immigration pathways or ‘streams’ linked with the IRCC Express Entry system.

The previous federal draw was held on June 24, 2021.

An Overview of Express Entry Draw #195
Date and Time of round July 7, 2021 at 13:17:37 UTC
Number of invitations issued 627
Candidate invited from Provincial Nominee Program [PNP]
Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score cut-off CRS 760   [PNP nomination = 600 CRS points]
Tie-breaking rule applied June 14, 2021 at 07:44:05 UTC
Invitations issued by date [July 7] 49,900 [in 2020] | 89,342 [in 2021]

The tie-breaking rule is only applicable to profiles that have the minimum CRS score required. IRCC Express Entry profiles created earlier gain precedence over those entered into the pool of candidates at a later date.

While the CRS requirement of CRS 760 might appear to be on the higher side on face value, it must be seen in the context of the specific individuals invited.

A PNP nomination – through any of the IRCC Express Entry linked PNP streams – is worth 600 CRS points in itself.

Hence, if we deduct the CRS 600 points of the PNP nomination, then we are left with a CRS 160 human capital score.

So far this year, no all-program draws have been held by IRCC.

In the background of the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated service limitations and travel restrictions, IRCC has been focusing on candidates that are more likely to already be within Canada. Candidates, that is, with either – ·       recent Canadian experience [making them eligible for the Canadian Experience Class or CEC], or ·       those with a nomination by a provincial or territorial government under Canadian PNP. Hence, a PNP nomination is the recommended course for action for those looking to acquire their Canada PR in 2021 through the Express Entry system of the federal government of Canada.

While Canada remains the most popular country for migrate overseas, the country also leads among the Top 10 most-accepting countries for migrants.

With 89,342 ITAs issued so far in 2021, the federal government of Canada is well on its way of achieving – and probably even exceeding – the target of 108,500 ITAs in 2021.
