New Canada Express Entry Draw inviting 512 ITAs On August 4, 2021, Canada announced a new Express Entry draw targeting PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) and issued 512 ITA's (Invitations to Apply). The Express Entry draw featured a CRS score (Comprehensive Ranking System) of 760 points which is minimal and is higher than the previous PNP draw. Till now, IRCC has issued 99,316 ITAs through 29 draws in 2021. This also includes 15 PNP draws with 7,663 ITAs, along with 14 CEC draws issuing 91,653 ITAs. CEC draw (Canadian Experience Class) created a record on February 13, 2021, issuing 27,332 ITAs. Due to the pandemic crisis, IRCC shifted its focus on PNP and CEC candidates, allowing the candidates who are more likely to be in the country as temporary residents.
The latest draw saw the tie-breaking rule implemented on March 5, 2021, at 6.38 pm EST. If more than one candidate had the minimum CRS score, only those who submitted their Express Entry profiles before this date and time received invitations. This was the 29th round of invitations under Express Entry in 2021, and overall it is the 199th one.
Canada has set a new record in 2020, by issuing 107,350 ITAs, despite of the COVID-19. In previous years the number of ITAs issued were 89,800. What is Express Entry? Express Entry is a Canadian immigration system initiated on January 1, 2015, by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). It aims to manage skilled worker applications under Federal Economic programs which include:
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Canada Experience Class
  • Few parts of the Provincial Nomination Programs
Stakeholders are anticipating invitations in high numbers, as Canada is building towards its target of issuing more than 400,000 new permanent residents in 2021, with CRS scores likely to drop. With the advent of the COVID-19 crisis in March 2020, Canada started focusing more on program-specific draws such as the Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program. This has increased the number of individual draws compared to previous years.
