British Columbia, the westernmost of the Canadian provinces, has held another round of invitations.
On December 7, 2021, Canada’s British Columbia invited a total of 318 Canada immigration hopefuls that had expressed an interest in settling in Canada after acquiring permanent residence.
British Columbia is among the 10 provinces and 2 territories part of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), also referred to as Canadian PNP.
Two separate draws were held in the same day. All invitations went out to skilled workers that had registered with the BC PNP Online and had been allotted a score following an assessment of certain factors.
Candidates with a federal Express Entry profile were invited through EEBC. Other skilled workers were invited through the Skills Immigration (SI) category that runs independently.
Those invited can now proceed to applying for a BC PNP nomination for Canada PR through the PNP.
The previous provincial draw by British Columbia was held on November 30, 2021.

How can a nomination under British Columbia’s EEBC pathway guarantee an ITA by IRCC for Canada PR?
An Express Entry candidate that is able to secure a nomination – by any of the provinces or territories part of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) – is automatically allotted 600 CRS ‘additional’ points.
Here, by CRS is implied the Comprehensive Ranking System, a 1,200-point matrix used for ranking profiles while in the IRCC pool of candidates. Those with the highest CRS scores are invited in the federal draws held from time to time by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
You cannot submit your application for Canadian permanent residence via Express Entry unless invited to apply.
With a standard processing time of within six months, Canada Express Entry is the most sought-after immigration program.
What is the difference between SI and EEBC categories of the BC PNP?
While both the BC PNP streams target skilled workers, there are certain differences between EEBC and SI pathways –
EEBC | SI |
·Online application process · Faster processing of Canada PR applications by IRCC · Must meet the minimum criteria of any one of the three programs under IRCC Express Entry · Only for jobs classified under NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B | · Paper-based application process · IRCC processing times differ from applications submitted through IRCC Express Entry · For all eligible occupations in NOC – Skill Level 0, A, B, C, D · Some SI categories don’t require prior work experience |
What is the process to apply for SI and EEBC under BC PNP?
The basic stepwise process to apply for SI and EEBC –
STEP 1: Registration with BC PNP Online
STEP 2: Invitation to apply
STEP 3: Application for BC PNP nomination
STEP 4: Nomination
STEP 5: Applying to IRCC for Canada PR
No prior registration required for – [1] EEBC – HealthCare Professional, [2] EEBC – International Post-Graduate, [3] SI – HealthCare Professional, [4] SI – International Post-Graduate categories.
Those eligible for HealthCare Professional or International Post-Graduate categories can apply directly through BC PNP Online.
With the latest round of invitations, 11,289 ITAs have been issued by British Columbia so far in 2021. |
