British Columbia invites 464 in latest round of BC PNP invitations

The Canadian province of British Columbia has held another round of invitations under the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada. On September 14, 2021, British Columbia PNP invited a total of 464 Canada immigration hopefuls to apply for being nominated by the province for their permanent residence in Canada.

Note. NOC: National Occupational Classification matrix that classifies each of the occupation groups available in the Canadian labour market into unique 4-digit codes. Here, ‘SIRS’ stands for Skills Immigration Registration System, an online points-based application management system used by the BC PNP.

SIRS Assessment Factors

BC PNP’s SIRS allots a score following an assessment of 6 factors –

education,
work experience,
language ability,
job in BC,
location of job in BC, and
offered wages for the job in BC.

While the federal Express Entry system is probably better-known, Canadian PNP also offers many Canada immigration pathways for those looking to migrate overseas to Canada. Canadian PNP has around 80 immigration pathways or ‘streams’ available. British Columbia is a part of the PNP of Canada. Canada PR through the PNP is a 2-step process. Those successful in securing a nomination – through any of the 9 provinces and 2 territories part of Canadian PNP – will then have to apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC]. Granting permanent residence in Canada comes under the purview of the IRCC.

BC PNP invitations are issued under the following categories –

Skills Immigration [SI]: For skilled and semi-skilled workers in high-demand occupations in the province of British Columbia. Prior work experience not required for certain SI streams.
Express Entry BC [EEBC]: Aligned with the IRCC Express Entry system, the EEBC offers a faster route to immigrate to BC for eligible skilled workers. No requirement for previous BC work experience.
Entrepreneur Immigration [EI]: For experienced entrepreneurs that intend to actively manage a business within the province. Appropriate investment and personal funds required.

Other immigration options are also available for coming to Canada. These include – the Start-Up Visa Program, Temporary Foreign Worker Program, Family Sponsorship, IRCC Express Entry etc.

With the latest round of invitations, British Columbia PNP has invited a total of 8,625 to apply in 2021 so far.
