Canada’s British Columbia has held its latest provincial draw on November 24, 2020. A total of 360 immigration candidates have been issued invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

These invitations were issued under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program [BC PNP]. The province is a part of the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada.

A PNP nomination can be used by the candidate for applying for the federal processing of their permanent residence in Canada.

With nearly 80 ‘streams’ or immigration pathways, many linked to the federal Express Entry system and a PNP nomination fetching 600 CRS points, PNP is a much sought-after route to Canada PR.

CRS score, or Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score, is used for ranking the profiles in the Express Entry pool of candidates. It is the highest-ranking profiles that are issued invitations to apply [ITAs] in the subsequent Express Entry draw.

Overview of the November 24 BC PNP draw – Total 360 invitations issued

Category Minimum Score*
EEBC – Skilled Worker 92
EEBC – International Graduate 93
SI – Skilled Worker 93
SI – International Graduate 94
SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled 75

* The score allotted on registration under the Skills Immigration Registration System [SIRS].

In order to apply for either the Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration categories of the BC PNP, the candidate must begin the process by first creating their profile through SIRS.

The SIRS score is based on level of education, proficiency in English, work experience, and location of employment in BC.

As per the BC PNP, in view of the “impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on BC businesses” 31 occupations have been excluded from the BC PNP’s November 24 draw.

The excluded National Occupational Classification [NOC] codes are –

0621 0631 0632 0651 3236 6211 6311 6313
6321 6322 6341 6421 6511 6512 6513 6521
6522 6523 6524 6525 6531 6532 6533 6562
6564 6611 6621 6711 6721 6722 6731 -

Candidates that have received invitations will have 30 days for the submission of a complete application to the BC PNP.

The high demand for immigrants in the BC labour market can be gauged from the fact that BC is expected to have 861,000 job openings between 2019 and 2029.
