British Columbia invites 302 to apply for provincial nomination

On August 18, 2020, the province of British Columbia has “issued invitations to apply to qualified registrants in Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories” through the BC Provincial Nominee Program [BC PNP]. Total of 302 invitations issued in 5 categories.

A Tech Pilot draw, the previous PNP draw by British Columbia was held on August 11, 2020.

With the latest draw, British Columbia has invited nearly 6,000 immigration candidates – to apply for a provincial nomination by the province – so far this year.

The August 18 draw had invitations issued to 5 categories under the Skilled Immigration [SI] and Express Entry BC streams.

SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled 76

As per the BC PNP, due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on BC businesses, certain occupations were not included in the draw.

The National Occupational Classification [NOC] codes excluded from the August 18 BC PNP draw were – 0621, 0631, 0632, 0651, 3236, 6211, 6311, 6313, 6321, 6322, 6341, 6421, 6511, 6512, 6513, 6521, 6522, 6523, 6524, 6525, 6531, 6532, 6533, 6562, 6564, 6611, 6621, 6711, 6721, 6722, 6731.

While the BC PNP Express Entry category is for candidates that have their profiles in the federal Express Entry system, the Skills Immigration category is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in British Columbia.

British Columbia holds PNP draws periodically, inviting the “highest-scoring registrants in each category to apply” to the BC PNP.

Successful candidates will subsequently be nominated by British Columbia for applying to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] for Canadian permanent residence.
