Australia has annulled the Visas of 800 plus overseas nationals in 2018 who committed grave crimes. This includes murder, armed robbery, rape, domestic violence, and paedophilia.
An official of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that roughly 500 Visas were cancelled for criminals who committed violent crimes. This includes 56 armed robberies, 125 assaults, and 13 murders added the official.
The overseas nationals whose Visas have been annulled have been or will be deported from Australia. Among them, 100 were implicated in child exploitation or pornography and sexual crimes against minors. 34 were convicted for rape and 53 were convicted of domestic violence, as quoted by the Sentinel Assam.
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton said that there is no place in our nation for people who arrive here and cause damage to Australians. The character requirements are specified in the Migration Act 1958, Section 501 said the Minister. These help us in deciding the good character of the overseas nationals, he added. All applicants of Australia Visas must fulfil the requirements for character said, Peter Dutton.
