Updated April 02 2024

The Express Entry Stream of Alberta is comparatively new compared to other provincial nominee streams. It is a passive program meaning that you apply to this program only when invited. Unless you hear from the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, you cannot apply to this program.

If selected, you get an invitation through your Express Entry portal. Invited candidates are given a certain number of days to apply for a provincial nomination to AINP. If you do not meet the deadline, your invitation gets cancelled, as per CIC News.

You may get an invitation (Notification of Interest) if:

  • Your profile is active in the Federal Express Entry Pool
  • You have shown interest in permanently settling down in Alberta
  • You have work experience in an occupation which is of economic importance in Alberta
  • Your Comprehensive Ranking System score is at least 300

Your chances of getting invited increase if:

  • You have work experience in Alberta or an offer of employment from Alberta
  • You have completed your studies from an educational institute in Canada
  • You have a blood relative-parent, sibling or child living in Alberta
