7 Scholarship options that the UK offers to Overseas Students

The UK is one of the most favorable study destinations for Overseas Students. However, the cost of education and living often worry them. Hence, the UK offers a number of scholarships to overseas students.

As quoted by NDTV, the country plans to offer more than 800 scholarships to Indian students this year. Tom Birtwistle, British Council North India Operations has confirmed the same. Let’s have a look at the various Scholarship options.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship program

This program is for Overseas Students who hail from least-developed countries. They must go back to their home countries post education.

The GREAT Education Scholarship program

This program is offered to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Up to 67 full-tuition financial support will be available to them. It amounts to nearly GBP 1 million. The offer applies to many courses across the UK Universities.

Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarship program

This program is primarily meant for Indian students. Immigrants with aspirations to achieve artistic goals get a chance to stay in the UK. This program helps them broaden their network in the country.

A.S. Hornby Educational Trust Scholarship program

The University of Warwick offers this scholarship to Overseas Students. It is aimed at English language teachers. They can pursue a Master’s degree in the UK as part of this program.

Newton Bhabha Fund PhD Placement program

The country offers this opportunity to both Indian and UK students. They can spend up to 4 months of their research at either an Indian or UK University.

70th Anniversary Scholarship program

The British Council offered 100 scholarships on its 70th anniversary in India. The following subjects were incorporated into the program -

• Technology
• Science
• Math
• Engineering

100 women received the scholarships. A month back, they again came up with the second round of 70th Anniversary scholarship program. This time, it was offered to 70 Indian women.

Chevening Scholarship program

This program is sponsored by the UK Government for prospective leaders. Overseas Students get a chance to study in the UK. They can pursue any 1-year Master’s program in the country.

In November, British Council conducted a Study UK exhibition across India. The above-mentioned Scholarship options were discussed in the program. Many new scholarship programs were announced. The aim was to encourage Overseas Students from India to migrate to the UK.
