What are the qualification points for a Canada PR?

The eligibility to apply for a Canada PR is to score a minimum of 67 points. The PR application is assessed on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and evaluated on the basis of the 6 factors as mentioned below.  

 

  • Factor 1:Age
  • Factor 2: Education
  • Factor 3:Experience
  • Factor 4: Language Skills
  • Factor 5:Arranged Employment in Canada 
  • Factor 6: Adaptability

What are the factors in the CRS?

  • Age: Applicants between 18 – 35 years will be awarded the highest points. If eligible, they can be awarded a maximum of 12 points.
  • Education:Applicants will be awarded a maximum of 25 points for the level of education. Applicants with certification from a foreign institution must get an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from an authorized firm. The ECA report evaluates the certification from foreign institutions with the Canadian education system.
  • Work Experience: Applicants can get points for years of work experience. The primary applicants are awarded a maximum of 15 points – 10 points for the applicant and 5 points for the dependent.
  • Language Skills:Applicants with good English or French language skills are awarded a maximum of 28 points. There are language proficiency tests like IELTS and PTE to assess the level of the candidate. The language skills are evaluated based on reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

  • Arranged Employment:Applicants that secure an employment offer for duration of 1 year from a Canadian employer to be awarded a maximum of 10 points. The applicant must receive the employment offer before submitting a PR application.
  • Adaptability: Applicants are awarded points on the basis of previous study, work, and presence of relatives in Canada. Additional points are awarded if the legal spouse accompanies the primary applicant in migrating to Canada. The eligible applicants can earn a maximum of 25 points under the Adaptability factor.
