The Canada Express Entry Program is a points-based immigration program for professionals looking to settle in Canada. It awards points to professionals based on skills, experience, and Canadian employment status and provincial/territorial nomination. The higher your points, the greater your chances of receiving an invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residency in Canada.
A candidate applying for the PR visa through the Express Entry program will have to go through a points-based selection system. The Express Entry System basically consists of three sub-categories:
- Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Traders Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
If you are a skilled worker, you can apply for a PR visa under the Federal Skilled Workers Program. This was initiated by the Canadian government in 2015 to encourage skilled workers to come and settle in the country. To qualify under this program, you should be able to get 67 points out of 100 in the eligibility factors that include age, education, work experience, language proficiency, adaptability and arranged employment.
Since the Express Entry program is designed with an intention to choose skilled workers to migrate to Canada, applicants to this program will be keen to know if their skills and professional experience are in demand. The greater the demand for their skills and experience, the better are the chances of approval of their PR application.
