A new Expression of Interest draw was conducted by immigration officials of Manitoba under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), said to be the third since a major reform was announced.
The MPNP draw on 26 February witnessed invitations being sent to 473 candidates to apply under three Manitoba streams.
Out of the total, 283 were issued to candidates under the SWM (Skilled Workers In Manitoba) stream, where the lowest score was 524 points.
In addition, as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, a component of the SWO (Skilled Workers Overseas) stream, 36 more candidates were invited, with the lowest score being 695 points. This initiative is launched when the province invites a batch of candidates to apply to fill a particular labour market requirement.
Another 154 invitations were issued to SWO Human Capital Pathway candidates having a score of at least 599 points who satisfied minimum language criteria, had an experience of six months recently in an in-demand occupation of Manitoba and either had work experience or past education in the province or a close relative in Manitoba.
According to Manitoba government, this was Manitoba immigration’s 41st draw. Although until the end of 2017, most Manitoba draws were conducted for the SWM stream, in the first draws of 2018, the majority of invitations were sent to candidates living overseas under the SWO stream.
On 31 January 2017, in the previous Manitoba draw, 546 candidates were invited to apply for immigration to Manitoba. This draw saw 18 invitations being sent to candidates for Manitoba’s new Express Entry Pathway, part of the SWO stream, with 560 being the score for the lowest-ranked candidate.
As part of an SRI, 64 more candidates were invited with the lowest score being 647 points.
SWO Human Capital Pathway candidates received 143 invitations with the lowest score being 605 points.
The remaining 191 candidates, who received invitations, were candidates under the SWM stream, with the lowest score being 524 points.
