Prior to the pandemic, the sector with the largest job outlook was wholesale and retail trade with an estimated 4.97 million jobs, the next largest sector was healthcare and social work with 4.48 million jobs in March 2020.

As  for the job outlook in the UK for 2021, the Employment Outlook Survey by the Manpower group shows a net employment outlook of –6% for the first quarter of 2021.

According to the survey  only 49% of organizations in the UK  expect their hiring to return to pre-pandemic levels in the next 12 months.

However, despite this positive trajectory, the UK remains the least optimistic in Europe, with continued uncertainty over Brexit and the effects of a second Covid-19 wave still looming large.”
