The economy of Canada added 63,000 jobs in September 2018. This lowered the rate of unemployment slightly lesser to 5.9%. The latest Canadian Job Market data peaks the 3 months of wild swings.
Y-Axis Immigration Expert Usha Rajesh said that the job numbers in Canada were beyond expectations in September.
The September month’s blockbuster results were preceded by a decrease of 52,000 jobs in August 2018. However, the July month had witnessed a gain of 54,000 jobs, as quoted by the Global News CA.
The oscillation of this nature is not usual even for notoriously unpredictable job numbers for Canada. It has taken the Canadian Economist by surprise that had projected a meeker gain of jobs in September.
At the regional level, 7 provinces in Canada gained jobs in September. British Columbia and Ontario added 33,000 and 36,000 new jobs respectively. The jobless rate of BC now is just at 4.2% and the lowest in Canada.
The jobless rate declined even across the Atlantic Provinces. It reached 7.8% and 7.9% from 8.4% and 8.3% in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Alberta was way ahead with a jobless rate of 7%.
The gains of jobs in Canada were concentrated in the private sector. This was particularly in the Construction sector.
On a yearly basis, Canada has added 222,000 jobs after 2017 September. The survey of the labor market reveals that all these jobs were gained by workers in the core age range of 25 to 54. There is virtually no alteration in the employment of youth.
