The applicants for these specific visas who had been issued any type of visa previously or if they have applied for the visa from their native country do not have to attend the interviews.

The waivers are not valid for the candidates who were refused a visa previously. The authorized consular officers may ask for an in-person interview if further information is required from the candidates.

Candidates who have to renew their visa within 48 months from the expiration date are also eligible for the waiver of an in-person interview.

Process to Request for an Early Appointment

Candidates can request an early appointment through the online appointment system of the US Embassy. They should have a confirmed date for the interview to ask for an early appointment. If their appointment request is accepted, they will be informed with instructions through email.

One should not cancel the existing appointment date until they have received a confirmation letter stating that the request for the rescheduling of the appointment has been accepted. If they have not received any notification yet, it implies their request is still under consideration.
