In the recent past, the government of the United Kingdom has been placing increasing number of restrictions on Australian and other non EU citizens willing to come to their country, to live and work there. The Australian government in an official statement warned the UK government of a possible bitterness between the two nations because of this harsh decision against Australia.
Various forms of restrictions
The initial restrictions came in the form of depriving the working right of the Tire 2 dependents to work in the country. This was followed by tightening intra company transfers, increasing the minimum salary level that migrants must have and limit the time for which each working sector can remain in the shortage list. Now the Australian High Commission is concerned about Australian business in the UK.
The High Commission has asked the Australian businesses to conduct a five minute survey and let them know how the new rules have already started impacting their businesses. In the same context the Australian government responded to the Britain in the form of a strongly worded two page submission describing the impact of the new rules on Australia.
A formal warning
The Australian High Commission has declared that, though they do not believe that it is their right to comment on British policy, the commission is concerned about the changes it has caused in Australia. The new rules will affect the Australian investment in UK along with two way services and trade between the nations. The Australians are not only concerned about the economic ties but also the connection between people across these two countries.
Despite such a strong uproar in Australia against the implemented restrictions with regard to immigration policy, the British government does not give any signs of an intention to bring changes that are favourable to Australia.
