Brexit, if happens, is only 2 months away. It has got the UK Employers worried. They are wondering if this would affect the recruitment process of EU workers. The current Immigration system i.e. the Tier 2 Visa is expensive and confusing. Also, they think it is not fit for this situation, as quoted by The Hindu.

The Tier 2 Visa guideline and documents provided by the Government are difficult to understand. The applications are oftentimes rejected for minor mistakes. The UK Employers fail in getting the required approval. Also, the process entirely depends on whether the Government is interested in helping a particular employer. In that case, they would send the documents back so they can make corrections.

The number of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for allocation in January 2019 were 2317. Nearly 820 of them got carried over to February. 619 Certificates of Sponsorship was carried over from December 2018. The UK Visas and Immigration data confirmed these numbers.

The UK Employers with the Tier 2 Visa license have to apply for CoS. Only then can they acquire permission to recruit Immigrants. This step is a must in order to employ Immigrants outside the UK. The UK Employers switching to a Tier 2 Visa from within the UK do not require a CoS. Also, for inter-company transfer applicants, they need not apply for a CoS.

The UK Employers who have unused Tier 2 Visa CoS can reclaim them after 3 months. This increases the availability of CoS. The number of such unused CoS amounted to 168 in January 2019. The CoS allocation meeting took place on January 11, 2019. The applications submitted by January 5 were accepted. However, the eligibility criteria of 21 points had to be met.

The next CoS allocation meeting will take place on February 11. This might indicate how the Brexit would impact on the Tier 2 Visa allocation. The decision is likely to have a direct effect on the UK economy.
