Jobs in Nova Scotia

The Mineral Province, Nova Scotia, is open to skilled workers through various economic immigration programs. Canada's Ocean Playground is returning from the hardest hits of the pandemic. It welcomes many foreign nationals through economic immigration programs, as there are many jobs in Nova Scotia related to healthcare, hospitality, finance and other sectors. According to the TD Economics report, the province's GDP will be 4.2 per cent in 2021, more than last year. In 2022, the GDP growth will have 2.4 per cent more growth.

Economists wrote... “Employment remains only 0.4 per cent below its pre-pandemic level as of August, one of the best performances in Canada,” wrote economists Beata Caranci, Derek Burleton, Rishi Sondhi, and Omar Abdelrahman in their TD Economics Provincial Economic Forecast earlier this year.

The coronavirus pandemic has led to growth in the healthcare sector, which has led to many job vacancies. Many other sectors, such as construction and finance, insurance, and real estate, are also on the upswing. There are many vacancies in housing construction because the Canadian government has committed to spending $1.2 billion on capital projects, which has boosted the vacancies. The jobs in the housing market are boosting by 5 per cent every year.

“Manufacturing activity has also impressed, with sales up 15 per cent year-to-date, lifted by shipments of plastic and rubber products. This suggests that the tire manufacturing industry has held firm, despite weak automotive production,” state the economists.

Rising economic activity in Nova Scotia

The economic activities were raised in 2021, as the province loosened its public health restrictions and re-opened its borders; the advent of vaccine passports and an increase in the number of immigrants helped the province to resume its normal state. The province is trying hard to fill the labour market needs; hence, it welcomes many foreign nationals to fill the workforce.

Economic immigration to Nova Scotia

Economic immigration to Nova Scotia accounts for three-quarters of new PRs yearly. Last year, Nova Scotia welcomed 5,875 new permanent residents out of 7,580 candidates. The growth of jobs in Nova Scotia mirrors what is happening most in Canada.

“Employment gains in September were concentrated in full-time work and among people in the core working age group of 25 to 54,” noted Statistics Canada in its September Labor Force Survey. “Increases were spread across multiple industries and provinces.”
