The US Embassy in Port of Spain has launched a new initiative RIW - Renewal Interview Waiver for Tourist Visas. This is to make it convenient for nationals of Trinidad and Tobago to apply for renewal of these visas. It is applicable for their non-immigrant or Tourist Visas under the B1 and B2 category.
Joseph N. Mondello the Ambassador said that the RIW will particularly help the residents of Tobago with the Visa renewals. These have to usually travel to Trinidad using the air or sea route, he added.
The Renewal Interview Waiver is for renewing one’s US Visa said, Mondello. This will be of convenience and advantage for all nationals of Trinidad and Tobago, he explained.
The RIW is applicable for these nationals whose Visas have expired within the previous year. It also includes those whose Visas are set to be expired. Applicants who are applying for the first time will have to schedule the interview. It also includes those whose Visas expires more than 1 year before, as quoted by the US Embassy Gov.
The RIW is similar to the existing waivers based on age. It is for those applicants who are below 14 years or above 79 years. Similarly, applicants are required now to just fill an application form online. They need to pay the fee at Scotia Bank and courier the visa application packet.
The digital Visa application will advise applicants automatically. This is if they are eligible for the RIW. However, applicants can choose to opt out if they have very urgent travel needs.
The documents that are needed for the Renewal Interview Waiver are:
The applicant must send both the old and current passport if the earlier Visa was held in a passport that expired.
