Quebec Invites 322 in the Latest Arrima Draw

Canada’s Quebec has released details of the second immigration draw to be held by the province in January.

On January 27, 2022, a total of 322 skilled workers were invited to apply for permanent selection by Quebec. This is the second draw by Quebec in 2022 so far.

Quebec’s immigration ministry – the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) – invited these Canada immigration hopefuls to apply under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP).

As provincial draws by Quebec are held through the Arrima portal they are also referred to as Arrima draws.

Quebec runs its own immigration programs and is not a part of the Provincial Nominee Program of Canada.

To be invited by Quebec in the latest Arrima draw, a candidate had to –

(1) have their profile in the Arrima Expression of Interest system,

(2) with a score of a minimum of 647 points, and

(3) a valid job offer outside the Montreal metropolitan area.

Invitations by Quebec in the latest draw went out to individuals that met the following criteria – ·       a score either equal to or greater than 647 points, and ·       with a valid job offer in Quebec outside the territory of the Montreal Metropolitan Community.

How does Quebec allot EOI points?

Foreign nationals with their profiles in Quebec’s Expression of Interest system are classified to identify those that might be invited to apply by the MIFI.

Factors assessed by Quebec for EOI score –

[A] Human capital: a maximum of 580 points available overall for factors in this group.

  • Knowledge of French
  • Knowledge of French and English
  • Age
  • Length of professional experience
  • Level of education

[B] Response to Quebec's needs: a maximum of 720 points available overall for factors in this group.

  • Workforce diagnosis and length of experience in the profession practiced
  • Field of training
  • Québec diploma
  • Length of professional experience in Québec
  • Length of professional experience in the rest of Canada
  • Validated job offer

[C] Training of the spouse or de-facto spouse: a maximum of 20 points available overall for factors in this group.

  • Level of education
  • Québec diploma

Rounds of invitations are held by Quebec on a regular basis and in line with the local labour  market requirements and the potential for integration of an immigrant. For this, individuals that have submitted an expression of interest are ranked as per a score-based system.

Those invited by Quebec might proceed to submit an application for permanent selection towards obtaining a Québec Selection Certificate, also referred to as ‘CSQ’ for Certificat de sélection du Québec.

Those successful in securing a CSQ by Quebec might apply for Canadian permanent residence to the federal department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
