Canada’s Prince Edward Island has held its latest provincial draw on November 19, 2020. The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program [PEI PNP] issued a total of 254 invitations in the latest PEI PNP draw.
While 221 invitations went to immigration candidates under the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories, another 33 invitations were for Business Impact candidates. The minimum point threshold for Business Impact invitations was 92.
A nomination – to the federal government of Canada for being granted permanent residence – through the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada is one of the ways that an immigration candidate can secure Canada PR via PEI.
As per the PEI PNP, in the provincial draws that are held, “Individuals are selected for nomination based on their intention to live and work in PEI and their economic ability to establish here.”
Currently, the PEI prioritizes entrepreneurs along with candidates as per the identified skills shortages in the local labour market.
PEI is also one of the four Canadian provinces that are a part of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program [AIPP].
|PEI PNP Categories|
| Express Entry||Aligned with the federal Express Entry system managing the 3 main economic immigration programs of Canada –|
| Labour Impact||3 streams come under the category of Labour Impact –|
Valid job offer in PEI required.
| Business Impact||The Work Permit Stream is for individuals intending to come to PEI on a work permit, operating a business within PEI for a minimum of 1 year before they can apply for Canada PR.|
Express Entry candidates that are successful in securing a PNP nomination get an additional 600 points added to their Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] scores. With a profile boosted with 600 CRS points by a PNP nomination, the candidate is guaranteed to receive an invitation in the next federal Express Entry system draw.
In 2020, PEI PNP has issued a total of 1,760 invitations in 17 draws that have been held so far.
