Ontario Job Offer Streams reach intake limit in just one day

Ontario started accepting applications for two streams under the Employer Job Offer Streams on 3rd March. Both streams reached the application intake in a very short time resulting in the closure of the streams on the same day.

Those who have a job offer from an employer in Ontario can apply under the Employer Job Offer stream for a provincial nomination. Applications can be made from within Canada or abroad provided the applicant has a permanent job offer from a Canadian employer.

The Ontario International Student Stream was also opened to applications on 3rd March. However, the intake was stopped due to technical issued, stated the OINP website.

The International Student Stream, along with the Foreign Worker Stream, was re-opened again later on. Both the streams reached the intake limit on the same day and were closed.

1,322 applicants successfully completed registration within the open intake window. Applicants who registered successfully and received a file number get 14 days to submit an application. The application process takes about three hours on the OINP web portal.

Due to extremely high demand, not all applicants were able to register under the Employer Job Offer Streams. The OINP has announced that it will monitor the application intake in all streams to decide if the Employer Job Offer Stream will be re-opened this year.

The OINP Employer Job Offer Stream remains closed as of now until further notice.

Ontario is still accepting applications under the In-demand Skills category under the Ontario Employer Job Offer Stream.

The Ontario Employer Job Offer Stream has three categories:

  • Foreign Worker Stream: Applicants who have a job offer in NOC O, A or B can apply under this stream
  • International Student Stream: International graduates who have a job offer in a skilled occupation can apply under this stream
  • In-demand Skills Stream: International workers who have a job offer in an in-demand occupation in Ontario can apply under this stream

There are other routes to immigrate to Ontario for those who do not have a job offer from the province. If you are an international worker or student, you may apply under the Ontario Human Capital category which does not necessarily need a job offer.

Express Entry candidates may be able to migrate to Ontario through one of the three streams below:

  • Ontario Express Entry: Human Capital Priorities Stream

Eligible candidates must first qualify for either the Federal Skilled Worker Program or Canadian Experience Class. They must also meet the necessary education, work experience and language requirements as well.

  • Ontario Express Entry: French-speaking Skilled Worker Stream

Bilingual applicants who also have work experience in a skilled occupation may apply for a provincial nomination under this category.

  • Ontario Express Entry: Skilled Trades Stream

Candidates who have current or previous work experience in a skilled trade in Ontario may apply under this stream.

International Masters and PhD graduates can apply under the below Ontario International Graduate Streams:

  • Masters Graduate Stream

International students who have completed a Masters from an eligible educational institution in Ontario may apply for a provincial nomination under this stream. They do not need to have a job offer to be eligible under this stream.

The Masters Graduate Stream is currently not accepting applications under this stream.

  • PhD Graduate Stream

International graduates who have completed a PhD from a University in Ontario may apply under this stream without a job offer.

Ontario is currently accepting applications under the PhD Graduate Stream.
