Nova Scotia Invites 278 Nurses in Latest PNP Draw

Nurses with their profile in the federal Express Entry system and an intention to settle within Nova Scotia are a step closer to migrate overseas to Canada.

On February 8, 2022, Nova Scotia invited 278 nurses to apply for a nomination by the province under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of Canada.

Nova Scotia PNP is officially known as the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP).

The previous Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream draw was held on October 7, 2021.

What is the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream?

Under the stream, Nova Scotia selects candidates from the federal Express Entry system that meet the specific requirements of the local labour market in the province.

Only the candidates that have received a Letter of Interest (LOI) from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) might apply.

Am I eligible for the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream?

To be able to apply, an individual must fulfil –

• the basic eligibility that remains the same across all draws conducted under the stream, and
• the draw-specific criteria that changes from draw to draw.

Basic Eligibility

Receive invitation from NSNP within Express Entry system. Submit an application within 30 calendar days. Meet the minimum work experience requirements of the Express Entry program qualified for. Demonstrate sufficient funds for successfully establishing yourself and family in Nova Scotia. Have a legal status in your current country of residence. Meet the eligibility criteria in place when issued a NSNP invitation. Have a valid Express Entry profile.

Have primary occupation of NOC 3012: Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses. Provide letters of reference from employers as proof of having three years’ experience as a nurse. Have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 9 or above in English or French in all language abilities assessed. The language test must be approved by IRCC. Hold a bachelor’s degree OR have completed a program of three or more years at a university, college etc. Apply no later than 11:59pm on March 10, 2022.

Note. IRCC: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). NOC: National Occupational Classification that lists all the occupations available in the Canadian labour market, assigning a unique 4-digit NOC code to each one of them.

What is Nova Scotia PNP?

Nova Scotia is a part of the Provincial Nominee Program, a Canadian immigration pathway that goes through the provincial and territorial governments. The PNP of Nova Scotia is officially the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP).

Through the NSNP, Nova Scotia nominates prospective immigrants that have the skills and experience required by the province.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of Canada, commonly referred to as simply Canadian PNP, offers 80 different immigration pathways or ‘streams’. Certain PNP streams are linked with the federal Express Entry system.

Worth 600 ranking points as per the Comprehensive Ranking System – also called the CRS points of an Express Entry candidate – a PNP nomination guarantees an invitation to apply.

Why a PNP nomination matters for a Canada Express Entry candidate?

You can create your Express Entry profile if you score 67 points or above on the Canada Skilled Immigration Eligibility Calculator. However, you can only submit your application for permanent residence through Express Entry once you get an invitation to apply (ITA) from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It is highest-ranked (based on their CRS scores) that are invited to apply. A PNP nomination = CRS 600 points for an Express Entry candidate.

Canada Express Entry programs – the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Some PNP streams are also linked with IRCC Express Entry.
