New Zealand Study Visas will be required by overseas students if they intend to study in the nation for more than 3 months. These visas have fair requirements and differ depending on the exact circumstances of the applicants.

Overseas students who intend to apply for New Zealand Study Visas must first confirm the visa that is applicable to their situation. They must then collate the necessary documents and apply for the visa. The decision for the visa can take up to 41 days. Thus, it is crucial to plan in advance. This will permit an adequate timeframe to apply for the Student Visa.

Below are the requirements that must be fulfilled for obtaining the New Zealand Study Visas:

  • Proof of placement at an educational institution approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority
  • Evidence of payment of tuition fees or exemption from payment of fees
  • Visa application fee payment
  • Proof of adequate funds to support during the period of studies
  • A latest passport photo
  • A passport that must be valid for minimum 3 months after your departure date from New Zealand
  • A return air ticket to your home or sufficient funds for purchasing it
  • Applicants below 18 years will need written confirmation of appropriate housing arrangement in New Zealand from a person or institution
  • Applicants above 17 years will need police certificate confirming good character if planning to study for more than 2 years

A TB screening may be needed in some cases. This is for those who will remain in New Zealand for more than 180 days. They must also have stayed for 90 days or more in a nation considered highly risky for tuberculosis, as quoted by Expatriate Healthcare.
