Moncton in New Brunswick, Canada, will be hosting a job fair for immigrants on 24th January. The province hopes that the job fair will help connect international talent with local employers.
Moncton invites new Permanent Residents, foreign students and prospective migrants to explore job opportunities in:
Angelique Reddy-Kalala, Immigration Strategic Officer of Moncton, said that 117 positions were filled in last year’s fair. The province hopes to increase the number of positions filled this year. She estimates that there maybe 500 to 1000 open positions at the job fair.
Ms Reddy-Kalala also said that most people attending the job fair were already in Canada on either a Work Permit or a Study Permit. However, she expects that 5% of the attendees would be coming from overseas to explore job opportunities. She also said that New Brunswick has an excellent quality of life as well as affordable housing. She expects people from places like Toronto to come here for a better quality of life.
New Brunswick recently released an immigration strategy that aims to double the number of immigrants within the next four years. Moncton, the largest city in New Brunswick, welcomed 1,444 migrants in 2018 and hopes to increase it to 3,500 by 2024.
Considering that Moncton is a primarily bilingual city, most employers are seeking candidates who speak both English and French. However, there will also be plenty of job opportunities for English-speaking candidates too.
The job fair will take place between 10 am and 12 pm at the Avenir Centre on 24th January. Candidates may register online by visiting the official website.
The following companies will be attending the job fair:
The job fair is a part of the series to be conducted every three months. The next job fair will be held on 19th March 2020.
