The passports of Singapore and Japan remain the most influential passports in the world as revealed by the latest global research. Nationals of these 2 nations can visit 189 nations across the world without Visa. The passport of South Korea went down to the 2nd position with 187 nations.
The passport of the UK also declined in the rankings to be tied at the 6th position with the US. This is its lowest position in the rankings for the most Powerful Passports in the world. It is after these started being announced 14 years back.
Nationals of both the UK and the US can arrive Visa-free at 183 nations, as quoted by the Daily Times. The rankings are assembled by the Henley Passport Index. It is based on the data from the IATA - International Air Transport Association. It assesses how many nations the holder of a passport can arrive Visa-free or through VOA - Visa-on-Arrival.
South Korea is tied at the 2nd position with passports of Finland and Germany. The passports of Luxembourg, Italy, and Denmark are on the 3rd position. They are followed by Spain, Sweden, and France in the 4th position.
The passports of Switzerland, Portugal, Netherlands, and Austria are jointly at the 5th position. These are followed by Ireland, Greece, Canada, Belgium, Norway, the US, and the UK at the 6th ranking.
Malta is the 7th position in the rankings for most influential passports in the world. It is followed at the 8th position by the Czech Republic. Lithuania, Iceland, New Zealand, and Australia are jointly at the 9th position.
Slovenia, Slovakia, and Latvia rounded off the top 10 rankings at the 10th position.
Meanwhile, in a significant development, the UAE has entered the Top Twenty for the first time. It has more than doubled its Visa-free destination numbers to 167 in the last 5 years.
The least powerful passport in the world is offered by Afghanistan at the bottom of the rankings. It nations have access to just 25 nations. The passport of Iraq also fairs poorly having access to just 27 nations. It is followed by the passport of Syria with access to 29 nations. The passport of Pakistan offers Visa-free access to 33 nations.
