92,000 plus immigrants received the Canada PR Visa in 2018 through the Express Entry program. This is an increase of 41% over 2017, reveals the new report of the Federal Government of Canada. The findings are revealed in the year-end report for 2018 for the Express Entry program. It was announced by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada on 2nd July 2019.
The increase in allocation of Canada PR Visa is in conformity with the enhanced intake targets for immigrants. This is through the 3 economic class Federal High Skilled immigration programs administered through the Express Entry:
It also includes a portion of Provincial Nominee Programs in Canada.
The Federal Government of Canada and several Territories and Provinces in Canada have immigration streams. These are used to choose candidates from the Express Entry pool. The selected candidates are offered an opportunity to apply for Canada PR Visa, as the CIC News quotes.
Invitations by program
The 3 economic immigration programs for high skilled workers are managed by the Express Entry system. Qualified candidates for each of the program are assigned to the pool in the Express Entry. Here, they are ranked depending on a score offered under the CRS - Comprehensive Ranking System.
The CRS offers points to the candidates based on diverse factors. These include proficiency in either of the 2 official languages of Canada – French or English, skilled work experience, education and age. There are other factors as well that are considered.
Nearly 280,000 profiles were submitted in Express Entry in 2018 as per the year-end report. Out of these, 70% of the profiles qualified for minimum of one of the 3 Federal programs for highly skilled immigrants.
Candidates in Skilled Worker Class Federal received 47, 523 or 53% of the ITAs offered for Canada PR Visa out of 89,800 ITAs. It reflects the modifications implemented to the CRS by the end of 2016. These continue to favour the candidates with high scores in human capital. These are the Canadian Experience Class and Skilled Worker Class Federal candidates.
The second highest numbers of ITAs in 2018 were received by the Canada Experience Class candidates. They got 30, 571 ITAs while candidates in the Skilled Trades Class Federal received 904 ITAs.
71% of those who received ITAs in 2018 did not claim any category of extra points. Out of those who claimed, just 5% of them had a job offer in Canada.
