Canada’s Manitoba province has held its second round of invitations in 2022. Manitoba is among the nine provinces and two territories in Canada that are a part of Canadian PNP.
On January 27, 2022, Manitoba issued a total of 315 invitations to candidates to apply for a nomination by Manitoba under the Provincial Nominee Program, also commonly referred to as Canadian PNP.
Invitations issued by Manitoba PNP are officially known as Letters of Advice to Apply, or LAAs.

There are around 80 immigration pathways available under Canada’s PNP, some of which are linked with the federal Express Entry system. A nomination through an Express Entry linked PNP stream is an “enhanced nomination” and follows a completely online application process.
A PNP nomination is worth CRS 600 points for an Express Entry candidate. Here, by ‘CRS’ is implied the 1,200-point Comprehensive Ranking System matrix used for ranking profiles while in the Express Entry pool.
Permanent residence in Canada through the PNP route is a two-step process. Firstly, a PNP nomination must be secured. Followed which, the PNP Nomination Certificate can be used to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

Am I eligible for Skilled Workers Overseas stream?
Submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) is the first step for an individual looking to take up permanent residence in Canada through Manitoba PNP.
Those intending to immigrate to Manitoba as a skilled worker – either as a Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO) or a Skilled Worker in Manitoba (SWM) – will have to meet the minimum criteria of the MPNP before they can submit an EOI and be placed in the pool of candidates.
Along with demonstrating a strong connection to Manitoba, every candidate that wishes to be considered for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream will have to get a minimum of 60 points based on five factors (to be considered eligible to apply). A “connection to Manitoba” can be in the form of – (1) an invitation to apply directly from the MPNP as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, (2) previous work experience in Manitoba, (3) previous study abroad in Manitoba, or (4) the support of friends/family in Manitoba. Factors assessed for Skilled Worker Overseas eligibility – FACTOR 1: Language Proficiency (25 maximum points) FACTOR 2: Age (10 maximum points) FACTOR 3: Work Experience (15 maximum points) FACTOR 4: Education (25 maximum points) FACTOR 5: Adaptability (25 maximum points) The EOI score, allotted out of a total of 1,000 points, comes into play much later, that is, when the profiles are ranked in the pool. |
