In the latest EOI Draw #89 held on May 7, Manitoba issued 123 Letters of Advice to Apply [LAAs] to Canada immigration candidates for applying for a provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent Residence. Of these, 14 had a valid profile in the federal Express Entry System.
In the latest draw, LAAs were sent to skilled workers, Express Entry candidates and international student graduates.
All those invited to apply had their profiles in the Expression of Interest [EOI] pool of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program [MPNP].
Launched in April 2014, the present draw is the 89th draw by the MPNP.
With this, the MPNP has issued 1,931 LAAs in 2020 so far.
Express Entry candidates invited in the provincial draws get an opportunity for boosting their application to the top of the Express Entry pool. A provincial nomination gives an additional 600 points towards the overall Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score of a candidate’s profile.
Being provincially nominated is a guarantee of the profile getting selected in the subsequent draws – both federal and provincial – to be held. It is the highest-ranking profiles that are sent invitations in the draws that are held regularly.
Even with COVID-19 special measures in place, Canada Immigration has not been impacted. Regular draws continue to be held. In fact, statistics reveal that more immigration candidates have been sent invitations in 2020 compared to the same time in the previous two years. 2020 promises to be a big year for Express Entry.
To be considered by the MPNP for its Express Entry and Skilled Workers streams, a candidate must create a profile in the EOI pool of the MPNP.
There is no requirement of being in Manitoba at the time of applying for the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas stream.
Skilled Workers Overseas stream candidates were directly invited by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.
A full-time, permanent job offer from a Manitoba employer is required in order to be eligible for the Skilled Workers in Manitoba pathway to Canada PR.
The International Education Stream, on the other hand, invites Manitoba graduates that have skills that are in demand in the labour market in Manitoba. Three sub-categories – International Student Entrepreneur Pilot, Graduate Internship Pathway, and Career Employment Pathway – come under the International Education Stream.
