The Department of Home Affairs outlines the Australia Family Visa processing priorities in order. This is irrespective of the when the application is filed. It is according to the policy of the Government of Australia for priorities.

The existing Australia Family Visa processing priorities with the highest priority listed first are as follows:

  • Applications for Family immigration that are under the Ministerial interference
  • Applications by a Dependent Child or Partner (exception is when the proposed sponsor or sponsor arrived at Australia as an IMA - illegal maritime arrival and has PR Visa)
  • Applications submitted by an orphan family member (exception is when the proposed sponsor or sponsor arrived at Australia as an IMA - illegal maritime arrival and has PR Visa)
  • Applications submitted by a Contributory Aged Parent or Contributory Parent (exception is when the proposed sponsor or sponsor arrived at Australia as an IMA - illegal maritime arrival and has PR Visa)
  • Applications submitted by an aged dependant relative or remaining relative, aged parent, parent (exception is when the proposed sponsor or sponsor arrived at Australia as an IMA - illegal maritime arrival and has PR Visa)
  • Application in which the proposed sponsor or sponsor arrived at Australia as an IMA - illegal maritime arrival and has PR Visa, as quoted by the Home Affairs Gov Au.

The Australia Family Visa processing priorities for Child Visas is as below:

  • Child
  • Adoption
  • Dependent Child
  • Orphan Relative
