Indians are increasingly opting for the US Golden Visas, the popular term for the US EB-5 Investor Visa, to obtain the Green Cards/PR. Permanent Residency is offered through the EB-5 program to overseas investors investing 500,000 $ in the US economy.
Indians are currently the third largest overseas nationality receiving the US Golden Visas – EB-5 visas. They have now garnered the attention of US businesses and Real estate developers for securing overseas investment, as quoted by the Times of India.
The numbers of Indians receiving the US Golden Visas are on the rise. 307 investors from India were waiting in the visa queue for EB-5 as of November 2017. This is as per the report of the Department of State in the US.
The estimates for 2018 are that around 500 to 800 Indian applicants would apply for the EB-5 visas. The numbers would reach 1,000 by 2019. Indian investors have been applying for the US Golden Visas for a while now. But the market did not accelerate till 2017.
The popularity of the EB-5 visas declined amongst the Chinese around the same time in 2017. In turn, Real Estate developers in the US directed their marketing efforts to other nations. This was for attracting investment for the flow of cash to their projects.
The EB-5 visas are capped at 10,000 per year. Applicants from a single nation can only obtain 700 out of this cap. The unused visas under the cap can be allocated to other nationalities of a nation does not utilize the 700 visas.
Indians do not have any backlog for the EB-5 as of now, unlike Chinese. They can obtain the Green Card within just 2 years if they apply today as per industry experts in the US.
