A bogus US embassy issuing illegal visas has been caught A bogus US embassy that was issuing illegal visas has been caught by the officials of Ghana. It was being run in the capital city of Accra by a group of fraudsters for more than ten years, as reported by the American department of state. This fake embassy was closed in the summer season this year. The building that housed this fake embassy had the US flag on it and there was also san portrait of the US President Barak Obama in it. The American state department has issued a statement that the embassy was not operated by the US government and it was, in fact, being run by the criminals from Ghana, Turkey and lawyer from Ghana practicing criminal law and immigration. The criminals were successful in their racket by bribing corrupt officers and securing legal documents that were blank, as quoted by the Telegraph. Nationals from Turkey faked themselves as officers of the consulate and carried out the operations of the fake visa racket. They were also fluent in the Dutch and English language, as informed by the Department of State. Authorities in Netherlands are yet to react on this whole issue. The US Department of state elaborated on the whole racket that the fraudsters secured legal visas of the US by illegal means. They also got the fake documents of identity that included certificates of birth and they charged 6000 US dollars for each of these documents, read the statement of the US department of State. The raids that led to the unearthing of the fake visa scam included the arrest of several persons. The authorities also collected fake visas of India, South Africa, and the Schengen nations. Laptops, smart phones, and passports of ten different nations were also seized by the authorities that conducted the operation. The statement, however, did not clarify as to how the criminals secured the legal visas. The US department of State was also unable to explain the manner in which several immigrants entered America through these illegally secured visas and the mode of operation of these fraudsters that extensively bribed the officials to carry out their visa scam. Criminal Investigations Division of Ghana has also not issued any statement in reaction to this fake visa scam that was run by the fraudsters. Visas from the nations of the west are in great demand in the African nations and the Embassy said that visas were a huge area of organized criminal activities.
