Employment in Canada has grown at a fast pace as the economy has added 150,000 new jobs in January 2023. The unemployment rate in Canada is steady at 5 percent. In spite of the prediction of slowdown, this is the fifth consecutive month that Canada added a good number of jobs. The demand of skilled foreign workers is increasing in Canada and the country has provided opportunities for new immigrants, students, and temporary workers.

The economy of Canada has added 326,000 jobs since September 2022. This led to an increase in employed Canadians to more than 20 million. It was predicted that only 5,000 jobs will be added in December 2022, but employers in Canada added 70,000 jobs.
The population in Canada is growing because of non-permanent residents. This includes temporary workers and students who migrate to Canada because of excellent career opportunities. The workforce in Canada grew by 0.5 percent or 153,000.
The average hourly wage in Canada has risen up by 4.5 percent in January 2023. This is also a reason of Canada immigration of skilled foreign workers. Employment has increased in five Canadian provinces which include Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta. There are six industries in which employment has increased.
