Canada saw a record number of study permit issuance in 2022 with 551,405 permits. The figure represents a 24.1 percent increase from the number issued the last year.
From 219,035 issued in 2015, there has been an increase in study permit issuance every year. After hitting 400,660 in 2019, it dropped again due to the pandemic and struck 255,695 in 2020.

Currently, the processing time for a study permit is ten weeks if the application is made outside the country.
After getting a study permit, students can come to the country and apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). They can even apply for Canada permanent residency through the Express Entry system.
To become eligible to study in Canada, students must have an acceptance letter from any Canadian educational institution, financially stable, without any criminal background, healthy, etc.
