Resumption of CEC and FSWP draws in July

Sean Fraser, the Canadian Immigration Minister, has made an announcement that Canadian Express Class draw will start from early July. Besides this, Federal Skilled Workers Program will also be started in July. New Express Entry draw will take the processing time of six months.

IRCC used to hold PNP draws rarely before the pandemic. The candidates were invited on the basis of highest scores, and they could be eligible through any program. When the pandemic started, IRCC started inviting candidates through CEC draw. Most of the times, the CEC candidates were available in Canada so there was no restrictions of travel.

This strategy helped Canada to provide permanent residency to 405,500 candidates last year. Besides this, IRCC also started the invitation of candidates through PNP so that immigration goals can be achieved.

As FSWP was stopped in December 2020, so no candidates were invited since September 2021. This led to high job vacancies and low unemployment. In 2022, Canada has planned to invite 55,000 permanent residents in 2022. This target was half the target of 2021.

The Express Entry draw has been declined temporarily so that it can complete the process of temporary to permanent residence. IRCC has plans to invite 110,000 immigrants through Express Entry by 2024.
