Canada conducted the latest Express Entry draw on 30th October. This was the 20th Express Entry draw of 2019. IRCC issued 3900 invitations with the CRS rising to 475.

The 30th October draw brings the total number of invitations issued in 2019 to 71,700.

The Federal Express Entry Program of Canada manages the below programs:

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
  • Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC)

To apply under the Express Entry Program, you need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Eligible applicants are placed in the Express Entry Pool. Candidates are ranked in the pool based on the score awarded under the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System). Each candidate is scored on factors like age, education, work experience, language skills etc.

You do not need a job offer to be eligible for the Express Entry Program.

Candidates with the highest scores are invited through regular draws from the Express Entry Pool. Typically, these draws happen every two weeks.

However, there was a 28-day gap between the 30th October draw and the previous all-program draw held on 2nd October. IRCC did conduct a draw on 16th October, but that was exclusively for FSTC candidates. A longer gap between draws often results in a higher cut-off score. That is because the pool gets more time to replenish itself with other high-scoring candidates.

The cut-off score of 475 in the 30th October draw was 11 points higher than the cut-off score of the 2nd October draw.

IRCC used the tie-break of 29th August 2019 at 3:50:24 UTC in the latest draw. All candidates scoring 475 or above who had submitted their EOIs before the above date and time received an invitation.

The total number of invites issued in 2019 at 71,700 is 2,500 less than what was issued during the same period in 2018. Last year, Canada had issued a record 89,900 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Permanent Residence.

However, under the Multi-Level-Year Plan, Canada has increased the admission target for 2019 and 2020. Hence, there are high chances that Canada could surpass 2018’s record by the end of 2019.
