Health Match BC, British Columbia College of Nurses, and Nursing Community Assessment Service will also support this initiative. Work will include the promotion of British Columbia, and a new provincial website will provide all the information related to the support. Health Match BC has stated that it will provide support related to the recruitment navigation.

1,500 nurses to get credential assessments

BC will invest $9 million in bursaries to help the international nurses to pay their assessment fees for the recognition of their credentials. There is an expectation that this step will help in the recruitment of 1,500 nurses.

After investing $9 million, $3 million will be left, and that will be used for processes based on provincial assessment. This will help in the creation of nurse navigator positions, and trained nurses from other countries can navigate the processes of licensing and assessment before migrate to Canada.

Reasons behind the recruitment

According to a survey in May last year, it has been expected that about one-third nurses will leave the nursing job in the next two years. Cynthia Johansen has said that there is a need for more nurses in the healthcare system. And Ministry of Health and NCAS will help to remove all the problems and barriers to help the nurses to migrate to Canada. The current system of assessment is complicated, and the process is very lengthy and costly.

PNP skilled worker program will help to bring international nurses

Ottawa has shown a shortage of 36,500. Average annual salary of the nurses in Canada is $78,000. Nurses will have the option to apply for permanent residency while living and working in Canada. They can apply for permanent residence through Express Entry or Provincial Nominee Program.
