A new scoring system to be introduced by British Columbia in November 2022

British Columbia has announced that a new scoring system will be introduced after it reopens in November 2022. BC had shut down its British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program from October 12, 2022, as the NOC 2021 will be introduced. The occupation codes will be shifted from four-digit to five-digit code.

All the current applications available in the pool till October 12, 2022, will be removed and applicants have to reapply after the reopening of the program. The details of the scoring system will be provided in November when the program reopens. Currently, the following categories are still open to apply through the BC PNP:

  • International Post-Graduate Stream
  • Entrepreneur Stream

Changes in the National Occupation Classification system

The NOC system is going to change in November 2022. Occupation codes will change from a four-digit to five digit code. The changes are being made for the categorization of each occupation. Through this five-digit code, the skill level of each occupation will break down into six categories. The table below reveals the changes to be made in the NOC:

Skill Type/Level TEER Category
Skill Type 0 TEER 0
Skill level A TEER 1
Skill level B TEER 2 and TEER 3
