BC PNP latest draw: 216 immigration candidates invited

On February 2, 2021, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program [BC PNP] has issued a total of 216 invitations to Canada immigration hopefuls to apply for a nomination through the province for Canadian permanent residence.

208 invitations to apply were issued under the Skills Immigration and Express Entry categories. Another 8 BC PNP invitations went out to candidates under the Entrepreneur Immigration – Base Category.

An Overview of the February 2 BC PNP draw

Invitations issued through the categories of –

  • Skills Immigration [SI]: For those with the “skills, experience and qualifications” required by the employers in BC.
  • Express Entry BC [EEBC]: For those with the skills to fill a high-demand occupation in BC. Linked with the federal Express Entry system.
  • Entrepreneur Immigration [EI]: For experienced entrepreneurs that can support economic growth and innovation in BC.

In order to be considered by the BC PNP for a provincial invitation – under the Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration categories – a candidate will first be required to create their profile through the online portal of the BC PNP.

A score will be allotted to them following their successful registration under the Skills Immigration Registration System [SIRS]. This score is the determining factor as to which profiles are issued an invitation in the BC PNP draws.

The SIRS score will be issued based on various factors, such as location of employment in BC, proficiency in the English language, work experience, education etc.

Occupations excluded from the draw

Certain occupations were excluded from the February 2 BC PNP draw due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on businesses within the province.

6522 Pursers and flight attendants
6523 Airline ticket and service agents
6524 Ground and water transport ticket agents, cargo service representatives and related clerks
6525 Hotel front desk clerks
6531 Tour and travel guides
6532 Outdoor sport and recreational guides
6533 Casino workers
6562 Estheticians, electrologists and related occupations
6564 Other personal service occupations
6611 Cashiers
6621 Service station attendants
6711 Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations
6721 Support occupations in accommodation, travel and facilities set-up services
6722 Operators and attendants in amusement, recreation and sport
6731 Light duty cleaners

With the latest draw, 740 invitations to apply have been issued by the BC PNP so far this year.
