November 2014 will come as a relief to aspiring Australian migrants. Australia Department of Immigration is set to accept TOEFL iBT, PTE, and other English Assessment Tests besides just IELTS. The assessment tests will be benchmarked against the IELTS score for language proficiency factors like listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
An equivalent chart comparing the test score is below for your reference.
TOEFL iBT Score | IELTS Band |
31 | 4 |
32 | 4.5 |
35 | 5.0 |
46 | 5.5 |
60 | 6.0 |
79 | 6.5 |
94 | 7.0 |
102 | 7.5 |
110 | 8.0 |
115 | 8.5 |
118 | 9.0 |
So two months from now, eligible migrants to Australia who have trouble scoring good in IELTS can try TOEFL iBT or PTE instead and file an application with Australia.
