The province of British Columbia in Canada has held another Tech Pilot draw. On June 9, BC PNP – the province’s Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] – issued invitations to 87 tech candidates for applying for being provincially nominated for Canada PR.
Recently, the BC PNP had announced the extension of the Tech Pilot till June 2021.
The Tech Pilot is not any special category or stream as such.
Under the BC PNP’s Tech Pilot, foreign tech workers with a job offer in any of the 29 key occupations and with their profiles in the federal Express Entry System are invited.
In order to be eligible for the BC PNP Tech Pilot, the job offer must be for a minimum of 1 year’s duration. Moreover, a minimum of 120 days should be remaining in the job offer at the time of the candidate’s submission of their profile to the BC PNP.
Candidates were invited from the categories of Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC. Those invited had a minimum provincial score of 82.
Regarded to be a quick route to Canada's permanent residence, provincial nomination applications are typically processed within 6 months.
A provincial nomination gets 600 additional points that are included in the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] scores, thereby boosting the rank of the profile while in the federal Express Entry System.
Being provincially nominated by any of the 9 provinces or 2 territories taking part in the PNP is almost a guarantee of receiving an Invitation to Apply [ITA] in the next draw to be held.
