463 PNP candidates were invited in recent Express Entry linked PNP draw

On August 18, 2021, Canada invited 463 candidates through the Express Entry pool. These candidates are invited to apply for the Canadian PR (permanent residency).

The invited candidates should have a minimum score of 751, along with a nomination from an Express Entry-linked Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

In the previous PNP draw, the IRCC has invited candidates with having 760 scores. The PNP draws high cutoffs score because the provincial nomination itself is worth 600 points.

The candidates with a 751 minimum score are only invited if they have submitted their profiles on or before April 13th, 2021, at 16:29:29 UTC.

16 PNP draws in 2021

In 2021, IRCC has held its draws only for two types of candidates from the Express Entry pool.

  • PNP (Provincial Nomination Program)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The main aim of the PNP is to fill the gaps in the workforce in order to meet the demands of the Canadian labor market needs. If the immigrants are invited, this means that they fill a need in the regional labor market. In contrast, Federal programs cannot fill these gaps.

This mainly indicates that the federal government should keep working with the provinces to support their immigration goals.

Travel restrictions exempted

The approved Permanent Residents in Canada are exempt from the travel restrictions. The PNP applicants abroad can complete their landing requirements and become permanent residents in Canada.

Express Entry invitations doubled compared to 2020 levels

IRCC has doubled the number of ITAs (Invitations to Apply) when compared to the invites in 2020. Later it will invite more and more applicants to reach its target of 108,500 newcomers through the Express Entry system in 2021. To date, in 2021, Canada has issued 102,779 invitations through Express Entry System.

The minimum scores will have a difference because of the CEC, and the PNP draws only. Comparatively, CEC will have lower cutoffs because the draws are based on one group of applicants. They will not compete with the Federal Skilled Worker Program.

So, with the lower cutoffs, it can offer bigger draw sizes to invite more number of candidates.

PNP candidates get 600 points with their PNP nomination. So, the PNP draws are always greater than the Express Entry Draws.
