Express Entry Draw #157 was held by Canada on July 23, 2020, at 12:24:39 UTC. This was the second invitation round to be held in 2 days.

The previous draw was held on July 22, 2020.

3,343 Canadian Experience Class [CEC] candidates received invitations in the latest Express Entry draw. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score required to be eligible to receive an Invitation to Apply [ITA] was 445.

The CEC is one of the 3 economic immigration pathways – the Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP], the Federal Skilled Trades Program [FSTP], and the Canadian Experience Class [CEC] – managed through the federal Express Entry system of Canada.

The CEC is for skilled workers that have Canadian working experience and wish to settle in Canada as permanent residents. To be eligible, a candidate must have a minimum of 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada in the 3 years directly preceding the date of applying.

As per IRCC, “There is no education requirement for the Canadian Experience Class.”

Since the introduction of COVID-19 special measures on March 18, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] has been holding program-specific draws, alternating between the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] and the CEC. The exception to this being an all-program draw that was held on July 8, 2020.

As per the IRCC, the tie-breaking rule applied was that of July 12, 2020 at 15:16:55 UTC. All those candidates that had entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before the date and time specified in the tie-breaking rule and had a CRS of 445 or above received invitations in this round.

With the latest draw on July 23, the total number of ITAs issued so far in 2020 comes to 57,700. This is more than the ITAs issued at the same time in 2019 and 2018.

The target for 2020 – as per the 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan – stands at 85,800.
