Updated March 31 2025

In 2025, Canada’s main focus is to prioritize sectors that have labor shortages, with a target of bringing 395,000 permanent residents and 5% residents who will come for short-term stays in the country. The country is also focusing on shifting temporary residents to permanent status. At the end of 2024, IRCC announced a change in Express Entry. Foreign individuals are allowed to apply for permanent residency via Express Entry through the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
