Eligibility to apply for a Singapore PR

As of 2020, the country has a Non-Resident population of 1,641,000 and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority approves 30000 PR applications every year. Applicants might undergo through an eligibility criteria to apply for a Singapore PR.

  • One must be a foreign investor or entrepreneur in Singapore
  • The applicant must be the spouse of a permanent resident/ Singapore citizen
  • The candidate must be an unmarried children of a permanent resident/ Singapore citizen who is below 21 years of age
  • Applicant is an international student in Singapore
  • Senior citizen parents or legal guardian if a Singapore citizen
  • Candidate is a holder of S Pass, EntrePass, Personalized Employment Pass or Dependent Pass, or Employment Pass

Singapore Permanent Resident Application Schemes

The country has five different types of schemes under which the eligible candidates should submit their PR applications. Following are the five different types of PR applications:

  1. Foreign Students Scheme: This scheme is for the international students studying in any Singapore University. Only the students who have passed a national level examination or who have studied in a local institution will be able to qualify under this scheme.
     
  2. Professional, Technical Personnel, and Skilled Worker Scheme or PTS Scheme: This scheme covers the S Pass, EntrePass, Personalized Employment Pass or Dependent Pass, or Employment Pass holders and includes their dependents as well. More than 80% applications are submitted under the PTS scheme.
     
  3. Foreign Artistic Talent Scheme or ForArts Scheme: Experienced sportspeople, athletes, and artists who have shown exceptional performances in their fields will fall under the ForArts scheme.
     
  4. Global Investment Program (GIP): The GIP is for business owners and international investors.
     
  5. Sponsored Scheme: This scheme is available for the permanent resident, spouse, children of a Singapore Citizen, or aged parents.

Documents required applying for Singapore PR

Below is the list of documents required to file for a PR in Singapore, for the main applicant:

  • Copies of educational certificates
  • Proof of current employment
  • Valid passport
  • National id card
  • Birth certificate
  • Valid immigration pass
  • Payslips of the last six months
  • Marriage certificate
  • Consent for IRAS data and Annexure 4A

For the applicant’s spouse:

  • Marriage certificate
  • Valid Passport
  • Employment Pass/ Dependent Pass
  • Educational certificates
  • Birth certificate
  • National id card

For the primary applicant’s children:

  • Valid Passport
  • Employment Pass/ Dependent Pass
  • Birth certificate
  • National id card
