GRE General Test is a standardized test that evaluates your preparedness for admission into graduate and professional schools, including law and business.

In view of the ongoing global situation brought about by COVID-19, ETS – the evaluating body for tests such as TOEFL and GRE – has made available home testing options for the TOEFL iBT and GRE General Test in most of the locations across the world.

ETS has expanded home testing availability for the GRE General Test to every location that the computer-based test is available in normal situations, with the exception of Iran and Mainland China. 

Students affected by COVID-19 can opt for home testing for the GRE General Test. Monitoring of the test will be through artificial intelligence technology and live remote proctors.

The GRE General Test administered for home testing will be identical to the GRE General Test taken at a test centre.

There is no difference of content, on-screen experience, format, as well as scoring between the GRE General Test for home testing and the GRE General Test given in test centres. 

In order to maintain test security, the home test will be monitored online by a trained human proctor. The proctor will be monitoring the test right from the beginning till the end.

GRE test centres have temporarily been closed in certain locations. Some other countries have limited testing facility.

All rescheduling fee is to be waived for test-takers during this time. You can reschedule your appointment for GRE General Test due to health concerns. The rescheduling can be done even in situations where the test centre remains open.

For rescheduling from an appointment for test centre testing to an at-home appointment, you will have to directly contact GRE Services. There is no cost for this rescheduling from a test centre to an at-home appointment.
