No, IELTS is not mandatory for a Canada PR, but it is added advantage. Language proficiency is an important factor required for candidates planning to migrate to Canada. Individuals can showcase their proficiency in English or French to improve their Canada CRS score.
There are two types of IELTS based on the requirements of individuals, and they are as follows:

The minimum score for IELTS General Training exam is 6.0 and the maximum is 8.0. The individuals scoring below 6.0 are cannot migrate to Canada easily. The minimum score varies and it is dependent on the immigration program chosen by the individual. For individuals applying for a PR through Express Entry program, the IELTS score must be 6.0 in the four sections that are equal to CLB 7.
