Migrate to Australia from South Africa in 2024

Australia is the first destination of immigration for the citizens of South Africa. Australia is the country that has a large number of immigrants from South Africa. The citizens give priority to Australia due to its culture, climate, and quality of life.

 

South Africans can use different types of visas to migrate to Australia. The government of Australia has introduced a number of programs that immigrants can use to get an Australia PR visa. The eligibility criteria of each program are different. The most common program used to apply for an Australia PR visa is General Skilled Migration Scheme. The Australia PR visa applications are assessed through the points based system.

 

The minimum score required to become eligible for an Australia PR visa is 65 which you can get on the basis of education, age, work experience, adaptability, and many other factors.

 

Skilled Stream

Skilled immigrants can find great career opportunities on the basis of their educational qualifications. This will help in improving the economy of the country. The most popular program that immigrants can use to migrate to Australia is the Skilled Migration stream. The eligibility criteria for this stream are as follows:

  • Should have experience in an occupation available in Australia’s Skilled Occupations List
  • Obtain a report of skill evaluation of the occupation from a designation authority
  • Expression of Interest form should be duly filled
  • Age should be below 45 years
  • Achieve the score of at least 65
  • Get character and medical certificates

There are different visas under this stream which are as follows:

Skilled Independent visa

The Skilled Independent visa or Subclass 189 visa allows the holders to live and work anywhere in the country. This is a permanent resident visa and many people apply for it. To qualify for this visa, you have

  • To be under 45 years
  • Score of 65 points
  • Occupation available on Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)

You have to submit an Express of Interest on SkillSelect from either inside or outside Australia. After receiving an invitation, you have to apply for an Australia PR visa within 60 days.

 

Skilled Nominated visa

The other name of this visa is subclass 190. An Australian state or territory has to nominate you to be eligible to apply for this visa. You have to submit an expression of interest in the state or territory where you want to work. Your age has to be below 45 years and your score should be at least 65. You also need to have experience in an occupation available on the short-term Skilled Occupation List occupation (STSOL).

 

Skilled Work Regional Provisional) visa

This is a subclass 491 visa where skilled workers and their families have to reside, study, and work in a particular region in Australia for five years. They will become eligible to submit Australia PR applications after residing in the country for 3 years. To apply for this visa, you have to be sponsored by your relative who is recommended by a territory or state government agency.

 

Family Stream

If you want to invite your close relatives to Australia, you can use Family Stream to sponsor them. You need to be an Australian citizen or permanent resident to become a sponsor. The dependents that can be sponsored through the family stream are:

  • Spouses
  • Common-law partners
  • Parents
  • Dependent children

Employer-Sponsored stream

In order to apply for a visa under this stream, you have to be sponsored by a company or an employer. You can be sponsored by an employer if it is unable to find any Australian citizen or permanent resident to work for that particular position. You will be eligible to work only for that employer who has sponsored you.

 

Business Innovation and Investment program

The Business Innovation and Investment program helps entrepreneurs, investors, and top executives all over the world to start a new company or manage the existing one in Australia. This program is a pathway to apply for an Australia PR visa.

 

Distinguished Talent Visa

This visa is meant for those people who have given extraordinary performance in their careers. Candidates who want to apply for this visa have to be related to sports, arts, research, or academic sectors. There are two subclasses of this visa which are

  • Subclass 858
  • Subclass 124

Global Talent Stream

The GTS has been introduced to attract tech talent. Steps are being taken to use GTS to act as a pathway for the Australia PR visa.
