Types of the UK Student visa

There are two types of UK student visas:

 

Tier 4 (General) Student visa

This Tier 4 (General) student visa is for students who are over 16 and want to pursue higher education in the UK. An applicant needs to have an offer letter from the UK University or college before applying for the Tier 4 (General) student visa. Once the university or the college has the offer letter, they can give the applicant the confirmation of Acceptance of the studies (CAS).

The UK Short-Term Study visa

This visa is for short-term study purposes for those who want to study in the UK. The UK Short-Term study visa is for short courses like English language courses lasting longer than six months till 11 months. The UK Short-Term study visa allows an applicant to stay till the length of the course expires with an extra 30 days only if their stay is no longer than 11 months.

 

Eligibility criteria for the UK Student visa

Below are the eligibility criteria to apply for the UK student visa:

 

  • Must acquire a score above 60% -75% in the previous study
  • Must have a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from the UK
  • University acceptance letter
  • Previous academic transcripts
  • IELTS score of above 5.5 band
  • Proof of itinerary

 

Requirements for the UK Student visa

The student needs to fulfill the given requirements for the UK Student visa:

 

  • Have sufficient funds to manage the living expenses during the courses
  • Funds, including the tuition fee and living expenses, should maintained for a minimum of 28 days
  • Confirmation of acceptance reference
  • Provide documents to obtain CAS
  • Medical Certificate
  • Provide the required documents for the concerned university you are applying for
